Omaha Westside has a new football coach. On Monday, Westside Athletic Director Tom Kerkman announced the hiring of Omaha Burke’s Paul Limongi.
“Paul brings a great deal of experience to WHS,” said Westside Athletic Director Tom Kerkman. “Not only has he been successful on the football field, his teams are visible in the community. We look forward to him continuing to lead the WHS football team on and off the field.”
Limongi spent the previous 16 seasons as the Burke head coach, the only head coaching job he’s ever had. He spent the previous seven years as an assistant at Millard West. Prior to Millard West, the Youngstown, OH native spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Youngstown Chaney High School.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to be the new Head Football Coach at Westside High School,” said Limongi. “The academic and athletic traditions in the district are excellent and I am excited to be a part of it. I look forward to being a part of this special community.”
Burke won the 2018 Class A state title defeating Grand Island 24-20. Limongi will bring a wealth of experience to Westside. A106-55 record at Burke, he led the Bulldogs to the state playoffs in ten of the past eleven seasons including the title in ‘18, state playoff finals in 2011 and semifinals in 2010 and 2017.
