Grand Island senior Isaac Traudt was announced as the 2021-22 Nebraska Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year on Wednesday.
The Virginia signee averaged 23.6 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 23 games.
“It’s been a dream of mine for a very long time,” the 6-foot-9 forward said of winning the award. “I’m thankful for all of the people who helped me achieve this and it’s a huge blessing to receive this honor from Gatorade.”
Traudt is third Islander to win the award in the schools history. Wes Wilkinson (2001-02) and Cody Levinson (1997-98) are former winners.
He joins recent Gatorade Player’s of the Year Hunter Sallis (2020-21, Millard North), Chucky Hepburn (2019-20, Bellevue West), Akol Arop (2018-19, Creighton Prep), and Shereef Mitchell (2017-18, Omaha Burke), among the state’s list of former award winners.
