A familiar face is returning home to be the next head football coach at Millard South. On Friday, Millard South Athletic Director Steve Throne announced the hiring of Ty Wisdom.
“There is no doubt Coach Wisdom will carry on the strong tradition of Millard South football. His work ethic and passion for the game are the perfect fit for our football program. Coach has shown the ability to build positive relationships with his student-athletes, staff, and community,” Millard South athletic direct Steve Throne said in a press release.
Wisdom, a former assistant coach for two years for the Patriots. He spent the previous eight in Arizona. Last season, Wisdom was the head coach at 6A – the largest class in Arizona – Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee, Arizona a suburb of Phoenix.
In 2021 Wisdom led the Thunder to a 5-6 record and a 6A state playoff appearance.
Prior to Desert Vista Wisdom led Phoenix Horizon for five seasons. His best in 2019 when the Huskies went 9-2 and made a quarterfinal appearance in the state’s Open Division (the top eight teams from 4A-6A).
