Millard North senior Hunter Sallis has trimmed his list of suitors to eight.
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound five-star product announced a top 12 in late August of Alabama, Auburn, Creighton, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon and UCLA.
Saturday, Sallis trimmed his list again, naming a top eight of Creighton, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oregon and UCLA.
Sallis is a five-star prospect — the first in-state prospect since online recruiting rankings started in the early 2000s — and the No. 6 player in the country, according to 247Sports and Rivals. The 247Sports composite — a ranking that combines the three major services (Rivals, 247 and ESPN) — ranks him at No. 7.
Of his top eight, Sallis has only taken one official visit. A late January visit to Gonzaga.
The first signing day for basketball players in the 2021 class was Wednesday. Sallis did not sign and is likely waiting until the spring in hopes of taking more visits.
“Right now I am going to wait until the spring to sign so I can take a few more visits,” Sallis said of his timeline. “I’d like to get the opportunity to visits some campuses and make sure I’m making the right decision.”
