Bellevue West Rickels Commits To Air Force

Bellevue West offensive lineman Henry Rickels was tired of waiting around. Friday afternoon, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound interior lineman announced his commitment to Air Force via twitter.

“I finally decided I would stop waiting on other schools and get somewhere they are actually interested in me,” Rickels said. “The future benefits and it’s a guaranteed job and good money after school.” 

Rickels chose Air Force over scholarship offers from Kent State, Dartmouth and Austin Peay. In June, he worked out privately for Nebraska and Wyoming showed significant interest. 

It is more than just football for Rickels when it comes to the decision to commit to Air Force. 

“They are a good football program,” he said. “I’m going to the highest education and degree you can get in America.”

Rickels becomes the second Nebraskan in the 2022 class to commit to the Falcons after visiting June 18th weekend.. Last week Omaha Westside’s Dom Rezac announced his commitment. 

A versatile lineman, Rickels played tackle as a sophomore and guard last season as a junior. This fall he will stay at guard.  Air Force recruited him as an interior lineman.
