Next week (June 17-18) a group of Nebraska boys basketball players will travel to Staley High School in suburban Kansas City for one of two Scholastic NCAA Division I evaluation periods. 

The Midwest D1 Basketball Showcase will feature 20-25 teams of players from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. 

The scholastic event is certified/approved by the NCAA Enforcement and Approvals Group (ECAG), the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and run by the state’s High School Basketball Coaches Associations. 

The process for selecting the players from Nebraska had multiple layers. Each high school boys basketball coach in the state received an email in April asking for player nominations from coaches. From there a select group of high school coaches from across the state selected 25 players to participate in the two day event. 

The players invited to participate were placed into three teams with the coaching staff of Parkview Christian coaching the three teams.
