Nannen To Takeover Storm Girls Hoops

Elkhorn South has hired Jake Nannen as the schools next head girls basketball coach.

Nannen, a Lincoln Southeast graduate, comes to the Storm after three season as the head girls basketball coach at Superior High School. In his short stint with the Wildcats he had a 51-21 record winning 20 plus games each of the last two seasons. In 2021-22 he led Superior to a district final.

“I am extremely excited to lead the Elkhorn South Girls Basketball program. Thank you to Roger Ortmeier, Mark Kalvoda and other members of the school for this great opportunity,” Nannen said. “I look forward to meeting the players, parents, staff, and community of Elkhorn South. We will be looking forward to a fun summer of hoops.”

Prior to Superior, Nannen spent a year at his alma mater as the boys junior varsity head coach. Prior to Southeast he was a boys varsity assistant at Lincoln Southwest.

Nannen will hope to lay a foundation of core values with the Storm this summer that he hopes will in turn find success in the winter.
“We want to build elite work ethic while trying to be one of the hardest working teams in the state,” he said. “Building team chemistry and team unity on and off the court this summer, making sure we are resilient through adversity and bringing high energy and positive attitudes to make us successful next season.”
