Fremont senior Taylor McCabe was announced as the 2021-22 Nebraska Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year on Wednesday.
“I’m just really excited and thankful. Of course I want to give credit to my teammates and coaches because I couldn’t accomplish anything without them and their support for me during my whole career has been a blessing,” McCabe said of the recognition. “With that being said I’m looking forward to playing tonight and I think we’re definitely ready.”
The Iowa signee is averaging 21.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.7 steals and 1 block per game through 27 games. The state’s career three-point leader, she also holds the Class A scoring record with 2,273 and counting.
The Tigers will look to make back-to-back championship game appearances when they face Lincoln High in the state semifinals Wednesday at 7:45 p.m.
