The schedule in June is going to be hectic for 2023 Lincoln Southeast offensive lineman Gunnar Gottula, but that’s OK with him.
Gottula, a 6-foot-6, 265-pound junior-to-be who owns scholarship offers from Iowa State and Kansas State, packed his bags for Ames, Iowa on Tuesday as he gears up for a camp at Iowa State on Wednesday.
Gottula will also attend Nebraska’s Friday Night Lights camp on June 4 and a camp at Notre Dame on June 6. There are unofficial visits to Nebraska on June 18 and Northwestern on June 24. A trip to Kansas State is in the works later this month as well.
“I’ve just been trying to lock in on the stuff I’ve worked on over the offseason,” Gottula said. “I want to show how much I’ve improved since my sophomore-year film and show them I’m on the upward trend and not peaking at the wrong time. It’ll be big to show everyone I’ve improved a lot.”
Where does Gottula feel he’s improved the most at? There’s no question about it: strength.
“I’ve gotten a lot of my lifting numbers up, I’ve gotten a lot stronger,” he said. “Also, a lot of my testing, like my 40 time and pro-agility and broad jump, have gotten better. I’m getting more athleticism.”
