Lincoln Southeast’s Gottula Offered By Nebraska

The Friday Night Lights event at Memorial Stadium proved to be a success for 2023 Lincoln Southeast offensive lineman Gunnar Gottula.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder was offered a scholarship by Nebraska following the event. It’s his third Power Five offer, following the Big 12’s Kansas State and Iowa State.

After the camp was completed, Gottula was told to hang back by Nebraska offensive line coach Greg Austin. That’s when head coach Scott Frost came over.

“I talked with coach Austin for about five minutes while coach Frost was taking pictures with kids and stuff,” Gottula said. “But he eventually walked over and offered me. There was a really good handshake and then we talked a little bit after. He’s excited to get me back for a visit soon.”

Excitement was obviously the first thing that Gottula felt after the offer.

“I was really excited when it happened,” he said. “I’m just glad my hard work is paying off and I was able to get another offer. It’s very cool.”

Gottula’s Friday actually started at about 5 a.m. with sprint and weight lifting sessions. He wanted to break in his new cleats he got for the 2021 season.

“I got some white and gold ones, they’re nice,” he said.

Before today’s FNL event, Gottula visited Iowa State on Wednesday and plans to visit Notre Dame this Sunday and Northwestern later this month.
