Each week during the high school basketball season select coaches from the six Nebraska classes rate the teams in their class and our Tony Chapman complies the rankings. Here are the ratings for December 19, with records as of games played on Saturday, December 17.

Class A (Record), Previous

1. Millard North (6-0), 2
2. Millard South (6-1), 1
3. Lincoln Pius X (5-0), 3
4. Millard West (5-1), 4
5. Bellevue East (5-1), 6
6. Lincoln High (3-1), 8
7. Papillion-LaVista South (5-1), 5

9. Lincoln Southwest (3-2), 7
10. Lincoln East (4-2), 10

Receiving Votes: Lincoln Northeast (4-2), NR; Omaha Central (5-2), NR.

Comments: Millard North hops Millard South after the Patriots lost to Class B, No. 2 Elkhorn North. This one likely gets settled in the Metro Holiday Tournament. Some changes to the bottom half after Lincoln High topped Lincoln East and Millard West beat Lincoln Southwest, 61-55. Games of note: Lincoln High at Lincoln Northeast (Wednesday). Lincoln Southwest at Lincoln Pius X (Thursday).

Class B (Record), Previous

1. Skutt Catholic (5-0), 1
2. Elkhorn North (6-1), 2
3. Norris (4-1), 3
4. Sidney (6-0), 4
5. Waverly (2-2), 5
6. Beatrice (4-1), 6
7. York (4-0), 8
8. Blair (6-1), 9
9. Omaha Duchesne (2-2), 10
10. Bennington (3-2), RV

Receiving Votes: Seward (3-3), RV; Scottsbluff (4-3), 7.

Comments: The top-three teams in this class are still unanimous by the coaches. A strong start from Sidney. Beatrice not punished for a loss to Class C-1, No. 4 Malcolm. York gets another big test on Tuesday as they travel to Adams Central. A lot of unknowns in this class after the top-three teams. Games of note: York at Adams Central (Tuesday).

Class C-1 (Record), Previous

1. Bridgeport (5-0), 1
2. North Bend (4-1), 2
3. Adams Central (6-0), 3
4. Malcolm (6-1), 4
5. Lincoln Christian (6-1), 5
6. Minden (5-1), 6
7. Wahoo (4-0), 7
8. Gothenburg (4-1), 8
9. Milford (6-0), 10
10. Scotus Central Catholic (4-2), RV

Receiving Votes: Yutan (3-1), NR; Hershey (5-1), NR.

Comments: The top eight don’t change. Malcolm earns two Class B wins in three games over the week. After two close losses to start the season Scotus Central Catholic now has wins over Humphrey St. Francis, Grand Island Central Catholic and Pierce. Games of note: Amherst at Gothenburg (Tuesday), Broken Bow at Hershey (Tuesday), Milford at North Bend Central (Tuesday), Chase County at Bridgeport (Thursday), Scotus Central Catholic at Lincoln Christian (Thursday).

Class C-2 (Record), Previous

1. Archbishop Bergan (7-0), 1
2. Guardian Angels CC (5-0), 2
3. Ponca (5-0), 3
4. Pender (6-1), 4
5. Oakland-Craig (7-1), 5
6. Crofton (5-1), 6
7. Amherst (5-1), 7
8. Southern Valley (4-2), NR
9. Superior (6-1), 8
10. Gordon-Rushville (3-1), 10

Receiving Votes: Clarkson/Leigh (5-2), NR.

Comments: Some stability before the holidays as the top seven teams remain unchanged with the only loss being Pender to Class C-1, No. 2 North Bend Central. Bergan has a clamp on the top after handing Class C-1, No. 5 Lincoln Christian their first loss of the season on Saturday. Southern Valley enters after a 61-55 win over Superior. Games of note: Clarkson/Leigh at Columbus Lakeview (Tuesday), Omaha Nation at Oakland-Craig (Tuesday), Southern Valley at Gothenburg (Thursday).

Class D-1 (Record), Previous

1. Centura (8-0), 3
2. Maywood-Hayes Center (6-0), 2
3. Hastings St. Cecilia (6-1), 1
4. Ravenna (5-1), 6
5. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley (6-0), 5
6. Hartington Cedar Catholic (5-1), 4
7. Elgin Public/Pope John (6-1), 9
8. Elmwood-Murdock (5-1), 10
9. Sterling (5-0), 8
10. Alma (6-0), RV

Receiving Votes: Norfolk Catholic (2-3), 7; Niobrara/Verdigre (4-2), NR.

Comments: The top-3 shuffle again as Centura takes the top spot with a pair of Class C-1 wins over Grand Island Central Catholic and Ord, the latter a 60-42 affair. St. Cecilia played Ord as well, winning 38-36, but a 32-30 loss to Sutton sends them down. Ravenna jumps to No. 4 after wins over C-1 Kearney Catholic and Class C-2, No. 8 Southern Valley. Games of note: Elmwood-Murdock at Falls City (Tuesday), Fillmore Central at Hastings St. Cecilia (Tuesday), Johnson-Brock at Sterling (Tuesday), Falls City Sacred Heart at Elmwood-Murdock (Thursday).

Class D-2 (Record)

1. Shelton (4-0), 1
2. O’Neill St. Mary’s (4-0), 2
3. Humphrey St. Francis (5-1), 3
4. Wynot (3-1), 4
5. Overton (6-1), 6
6. Falls City Sacred Heart (3-1), 5
7. McCool Junction (6-0), 7
8. Parkview Christian (6-0), 9
9. Wilcox-Hildreth (5-2) RV
10. Paxton (5-0), 10

Receiving Votes: Leyton (3-0), RV; Diller-Odell (4-2), NR.

Comments: Shelton keeps their stranglehold on the top spot, but a little more clarity with seven teams now on every ballot. Wilcox-Hildreth enters on a four-game win streak and a 51-35 win at previous No. 8 Pleasanton. If the forecast changes, they host top-ranked Shelton on Thursday. Games of note: Humphrey St. Francis at Nebraska Christian (Tuesday), Shelton at Wilcox-Hildreth (Thursday).
