Foster Retiring From Central

Jimmie Foster built Omaha Central Wrestling. The longtime coach spent the last 25 years as the head wrestling coach at Central. Wednesday, Foster announced to his team that we was retiring from coaching.

“25 years of my life has been dedicated to Central Wrestling,” Foster said. “I’m proud of what we accomplished during that time.”

Since the 1997-98 season Central has qualified 148 wrestlers for the state tournament, had 70 place at the state meet, sent 23 to the state finals and 9 state champions.

For Foster, Central Wrestling is about more than building champions on the mat.

“Coach (Mike) Denney told me to raise good men and I think we have done that. It’s just time for me to move over and let the next group of coaches take the torch.”

In his time the Eagles have had three international marketing or DECA winners, a senior class president, and eagle scout and a military bronze star medal recipient.
