Skutt Catholic senior Paisley Douglas publicly ended her recruitment on Wednesday. The junior libero (defensive specialist) announced via twitter her commitment to Southern California.
“I felt that it (USC) was the best fit for me personally,” Douglas said. “The coaches and everyone made me feel welcomed. I was deciding between a few other places but the girls on the team and the coaches made it special.”
Douglas paid attention to the details throughout her recruitment. She didn’t just look for the best fit but the school that she felt fit her playing style the most.
“The coaches pursued me a lot and they really paid attention to the details in my game,” she said. “They described what type of player I am and how I can help them when I get there and I really liked that.”
She visited Los Angeles the weekend of September 17-18. The relationship between Douglas and the Trojan staff started after the June 15th contact period for the class of 2024 opened up.
“I didn’t hear anything from them until nationals,” she said. “They were watching a girl that was already committed to play there. That is when he – USC coach Brad Keller – said that is when I first caught their eye.”
Last season, Douglas played in 109 sets, had 482 digs and 41 assists helping lead the SkyHawks to their seventh consecutive Class B state championship.
I am so excited to announce that I have verbally committed to The University of Southern California to continue my academic and volleyball career. Thanks everyone for helping my dreams come true. Can’t wait to be part of the Trojan family! @uscwomensvolley #fighton✌️❤️💛 pic.twitter.com/lcmzpul202
