Lincoln, Neb. — Falls City Sacred Heart coach Doug Goltz proved again on Saturday that if you plan to beat him in the postseason, you need to get it done before the biggest stage.
The Irish won their 11th state basketball title in Goltz’s tenure — in their 11th try — and the head man tied Duane Mendlik for the state’s all-time win record at 694 in the process as the Irish dominated the second half against Parkview Christian in 64-47 win.
Parkview led 29-27 at the half, and scored first in the third quarter and then the Irish took over. They went on a 21-9 run over the last 7:07 of the quarter and the Patriots never recovered.
Jack Fiegener scored 22 points for the Irish, with Jakob Jordan chipping in 13 and Jacob Froeschl 12.
