Behind 12 strikeouts from Nebraska baseball commit Tucker Timmerman and a three-run fifth inning from the offense, the Beatrice Orangemen advanced to the Class B state championship game with a 4-3 win over the Omaha Skutt Catholic SkyHawks on Tuesday night at Werner Park in Omaha.
Timmerman went six innings and allowed just two earned runs with two walks. Adam DeBoer came on in relief and recorded the final three outs, the last two of which were strikeouts.
Beatrice went into the fifth inning trailing 2-1, but a single from Jaxson Blackburn tied the game at 2. Max Reis gave his team a 3-2 edge with an RBI triple, and he later scored off a Skutt error at third base.
Skutt made things interesting late with a single from Cade Barton, but DeBoer eventually settled down to finish off the SkyHawks.
