Auburn’s Cam Binder likes being home, the closer the better. On Monday the senior guard announced via Twitter his commitment to UNK.
“It felt like home,” Binder said. “The coaching staff believes in me and I want to go somewhere I can fight and make an impact. I am a homebody. I wanted to stay close to home so the Auburn crew and my family can come see me play.”
In the end, his recruitment came down to two Division II schools. UNK and Minot State (North Dakota). He said the distance mattered plus the connection he had with the coaching staff and UNK and the direction of the program were big factors.
Binder has averaged 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists during his career. He has led the Bulldogs to back-to-back state titles and is hoping to add a third to finish his legendary career.
“We just have to do what we have been doing,” he said. “I really want a third.”
With the start of official practice on Monday, he is ready to do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal.
“My main concern is winning and whatever is in front of me is what I’m going to focus on and what my team is going to focus on,” he said. “I’m just ready to get that road going.”

UNK Women add two in-state players
Fremont junior Macy Bryant and Bellevue East junior Baylee Egan announced commitments to UNK on Monday. Bryant averaged 7.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for the Tigers as a sophomore. Eagan led the Chieftains in scoring (11.1) and rebounding (11.6) last season. The pair are familiar with each other as they play AAU with Team Factory.
