Busy Monday For In-State Football Prospects

The NCAA approved one of four blanket waiver’s last week. One allowed Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) schools to initiate telephone calls with members of the 2022 class beginning Monday, February 1 through the conclusion of the COVID-19 recruiting dead period.

Prior to Monday the athletes needed to initiate contact via phone calls to the FBS or FCS schools. Here is a list of in-state players that heard from schools on Monday.

Devon Jackson, LB. Omaha Burke: Miami was the latest school to jump into the fray for Jackson with a Monday afternoon offer. Oklahoma offered last week and were one of the school to initiate a phone all with Jackson on Monday. Nebraska, Notre Dame and Michigan State were the others.

Micah Riley, TE, Bellevue West: Auburn, Michigan State, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Iowa and Illinois had offered Riley prior to Monday. Those six schools made Riley a priority on Monday.

Deshawn Woods, OL, Omaha Central: Woods heard from Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas State, Minnesota and Michigan on Monday. NU, K-State and Missouri have previously offered Woods.

Kaden Helms, TE, Bellevue West: A Monday night virtual visit with Oklahoma capped off Helms day. The Sooners are the most recent school to offer the junior hybrid tight end. Arizona State’s entire coaching staff connected with Helms including head coach Herm Edwards. Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa State were the others to make direct contact on Monday.

Dominic Rezac, RB, Omaha Westside: Northern Illinois and North Dakota State reached out to Rezac on Monday.

Garrett Oakley, WR/DE, Columbus Scotus: South Dakota offered last week, South Dakota State made a call with the 6-foot-5 athlete on Monday.

Henry Rickels, OL, Bellevue West: Nebraska and Miami (OH) made direct contact with Rickels on Monday. Kent State is his lone offer.

Caden Becker, QB, Omaha Skutt: South Dakota recently offered Becker as a quarterback. On Monday Wyoming and Iowa made direct contact with Becker.

Jake Gassaway, LB, Millard South: Wyoming contacted Gassaway on Monday.
