Millard South senior Tyler Antoniak is headed to the desert. The 152-pounder announced his commitment to Arizona State on Tuesday night.
“I love the coaches and the team,” he said. “I couldn’t go wrong with ASU.”
Antoniak has had an accomplished high school career. He was a Junior Division Greco National Champion last summer in Fargo, A U15 World School Combat Games gold medalist in the 68-kilogram Greco-Roman bracket as a freshman and has finished in the top three in each of his high school seasons. Antoniak had a perfect (56-0) record and state championship at 138 pounds as a sophomore, finished second as a freshman (53-8) and third his junior season (28-3) at 145 pounds.
He chose ASU over the other finalists that included Nebraska, Oklahoma, Virginia and Air Force.
“It helps me kind of start my own path away from home and I can kind of pave my own way,” he said.
Antoniak will look to get back on top of the podium this season at 152 pounds. For the Sun Devils he will likely wrestle 149, 157 or 165 pounds.
