Class D-6 Quarterfinals: Minatare Rolls Past Hyannis

It wasn’t a great start for Minatare in the Class D-6 NSAA football playoff quarterfinals on Friday night against Hyannis, but the end result was pretty darn good.

Hyannis got a kickoff return for a touchdown by Kobee Olson to start the game, but Minatare answered with 22 unanswered points in the quarter and never looked back in taking a 58-18 victory.

It was also a pretty good night for Minatare quarterback Kaleb Gonzales, who rushed for three touchdowns, threw one and kicked a record-setting 41-yard field goal in the game.

Minatare will take on Hay Springs in the semifinals. Hay Springs beat Spalding Academy 51-8 tonight.

The other semifinal will feature Harvard – a 70-31 winner over Cody-Kilgore – against Wilcox-Hildreth, which beat McCool Junction 70-58.

Friday, Nov. 2

Hay Springs 51, Spalding Academy 8
Minatare 58, Hyannis 18
