Elkhorn South pulled the only upset int the first round of the Class A playoffs, knocking off Lincoln High 27-24 Friday night.
Isaiah Alford of Lincoln High scored on a 64-yard fumble recovering on the first play of the fourth quarter to make it 27-24, the Storm held on the rest of the way for the win. Eli Hustad had a 68-yard touchdown run for Elkhorn South in the first half.
Meanwhile, in Grand Island, Omaha North looked like it was well on its way to an upset when it went ahead 24-0 late in the second quarter. The Islanders, however, would score the final 38 points of the game for the win – which is the biggest comeback in Class A playoff history.
Cole Evans passed foe 172 yards and three touchdowns for Grand Island. Omaha North out-rushed Grand Island 354-96 on the night.
